Push Button "Pop-Up" Coffee Shop

Posted by Alex in Home & Garden, Pictures on October 16, 2007 at 8:35 pm

People have been tinkering with using shipping containers as the ultimate idea of a portable home for a long time.

Artist and architect Adam Kalkin took it one step further: he created a "push button" store, sponsored by coffee maker illycaffè, where all you have to do to set up shop is push a button and a whole coffee shop just pop up!

It says that it's fully furnished and functional... Does that mean that the open toilet is plumbed?

    Either way I'd take one!

It would appear that when the cafe is closed, there is a toilet positioned sideways over the counter. I don't think I'd want anything from that cafe.

Interesting.I'd like it more, if that toilet wasn't there. Toilet = disturbing, but I assume theres probably some fold-out-walls or a tent they put around the toilet once its assembled to keep it private.

Strange that its sponsored by Illy, the whole "fold out shop" seems sort of cheap for a coffee brand with such a high end pricetag.
