Designer Cinder Blocks

Posted by Alex in Architecture on October 16, 2007 at 1:53 am

Loom Studio turned boring ol’ cinder blocks into a chic designer material which when assembled gives a 3D wall effect by giving them 12 new shapes. This one above, called the egg block looks an excellent site for nesting birds.

Imagine that, designer cinder blocks! Links: A Daily Dose of Architecture | 12BLOCKS website

The idea of the nesting bird sanctuary is quite quaint until you consider that the entire wall will be awash in bird crap within a year.

Designed cinder blocks go back to the 1950s, my neighborhood used to be filled with amazing Populuxe parking garages.
