I’m not superstitious, so when I’m happy, I simply thank whoever was involved in making me happy. If I’m happy for no reason at all, then I’m just happy.

It seems to me if one is thanking “God” for everything positive in their lives, they are likely overlooking the work of a lot of good people.

Appreciation of good fortune is a state of mind only, a recognition that one does not deserve the good things that happen which heightens the enjoyment there of. Attaching ones self to some imaginary provider in the sky detracts from that by adding a sense of entitlement based on moral superiority.

Life, for most people, follows a classic bell curve. It’s mostly ok, with small moments of great joy or great sorrow tossed in. Why do the religious freaks “thank god” for the good parts, but don’t “blame god” for the bad parts or the seemingly endless days of mediocrity?
It’s cute when a toddler believes in Santa Claus, it’s pathetic when a so called adult believes in something just as fictional.
