Awesome!
Awesome, but totally untrue. Wikipedia says so, and Google Maps backs it up:
Both islands are in Canada. Silly Americans, constantly trying to annex our land...
I can find discrepancies in the hybrid mode using Google Maps in my own city, so I wouldn't use GM as a sole source of evidence.
Do you need a passport to go to your backyard and grill some hot dogs? Oh, but there might be restrictions on carrying animal products across the border. Hmmm...
manifest destiny
I've been there. It's in upstate NY. Thousand Islands. It is factually true. Nerds in Canada are the only ones to deny it.
I hail from the 1000 islands area, and just took the Uncle Sam boat tour this summer with my family. It was my third time going on this tour, and ever time they point out this set of islands, along with many others with really interesting stories.
The US Canada border runs between many of the islands, to keep the approximate number of islands that the US and Canada own the same. The guy who owns these two islands built the bridge, and he has a wife and several daughters. When the stress of living with so many women gets too much, he leaves the country and goes to his second island.
True or not, the story made me laugh.
