4 Ears

Residents in North Bakersfield, California aren’t seeing double, a wild rabbit they’ve spotted has four ears. The residents have named the rabbit ‘Pete’ and he was discovered among three mundane bunnies living under a local shed.

CNN has video Here.

Aww, it's not nice to call the other boring bunnies mundane!

Yeah, those don't look like mutated ears, they just look like he got a bit mangled. Poor bun-bun, he's such a survivor!

No, they are pretty typical to dual ears. You can see very similar mutations in cats. The ears here appear to be flaps only, without ear canals.

I see the ears but they look as if someone took a weedwhacker to them.

Yeah, looks more like a weedwhacker attacked them, not double ears.

Don't drink the water in North Bakersfield...it may be toxic.

I think his ears are more shredded than multiple. Look at all the notches on his right ear. We had lots of rabbits like that on the Navy base where I used to live, and I attributed the torn up ears to near-misses from ospreys and other predatory birds. Their talons grabbed the rabbits by the ears, but they managed to wriggle free before they could be carried off. Several neighborhood housecats were not so lucky.

The picture itself is misleading. However, if you watch the video you can CLEARLY see two sets of pinnae. This is a somewhat common mutation. This is NOT a mutilated animal. WATCH THE CNN VIDEO.

Replaced image with one that better illustrates the dual lobes.
