“… these were painted with a tasty candy coating. Unfortunately, through an “oversight” at a sub-contracter, lead paint was mixed in and children around the region are a little dimmer. “

Whoa…are we back in the early 90’s? What next? Over sized jackets with gigantic shoulder pads? Brrrr.

they look really shite, late 80s early 90s

rather than going the whole hog and custom building something, beautiful, efficient and eye catching they’ve put together a rubbish figure shape and just stuck to bog standard street light globe things on.

the Olympics is a time a country should be able to show the rest of the world what it’s really made of, this isn’t going to impress anyone

“It was acceptable in the 80´s…it was acceptable at the time…”.

Maybe the UK could use them again for 2012. They’d go beautifully with the logo.

Sounds like they need to take another “Great Leap Forward”

It’s slightly disturbing. And it made me think of that great teen sitcom “Saved by the bell”.

Now a Public Service Announcement: we have determined the bright paint on the streetlamp may contain lead. Please do not lick the streetlamp.

I rather like them. However my first thought was about how creepy they would be at night. I imagine some one driving along, when suddenly, out of the mist, looms a giant figure with a glowing head and a foot raised to crush you.
