Horribly Bad TV Station Call Letters

Even with all the broadcast indecency brouhaha, some broadcasters still get in hot water for choosing (and getting okayed by the regulators!) horribly bad station call letters:

The call letter snafu was a source of great mirth for Bae’s attorney.

"I can’t tell you how long he laughed at me when he learned of my gaffe," Bae said.

Broadcasters for generations have joked among themselves about call letters resembling off-color words or acronyms knowing the FCC would never approve their assignment — but that was before computerization.

    There’s jazz station near Dallas that’s affiliated with the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, but their call letters are (and have been) KNTU.

    “KCUF” — You could really go places with that one if you wanted to. Sort of a shock jock type of thing.
