Currently standing at 1,680 feet, the still-uncompleted Burj Dubai tower in Dubai is now the world’s tallest building. The previous record holder is Taiwan’s Taipei 101 at 1,667 feet. Developers won’t say what the finished height will be, only that it will be over 2,275 feet. The $1 billion skyscraper is expected to be finished by the end of 2008. Link -via Fark

Article claims the Eiffel Tower was first to surpass the Pyramid of Giza as worlds tallest manmade structure.

Even though it took 40 years to complete, the Washington Monument was tallest for 2-3 years *before* Eiffel’s tower was built.

I guess they are assuming that bands of crazed Christians will not be flying jetliners into it. Oh yeah, I guess that is a safe bet. Hmmm.

The inconvenient truth is that the CN Tower is 1,815 feet tall and has been that way for about 30 years. http://www.cntower.ca/portal/ Blame Canada.
