Top 10 Weird Weather Phenomena

Posted by Alex in Everything Else on July 17, 2007 at 1:05 am

deputydog (which for some reason shunned caps) has a neat list of the top 10 weird weather phenomena, like this one:

Halo / Sun Dog
the incredible halo in the photo above is a 22 degree sun halo and is one of the more common atmospheric phenomena, apparently caused by refraction in the hexagonal ice crystals in the air. sun dogs (aka parhelia) are the brighter parts of the halo, usually seen on each horizontal point of the halo.

Pedantic I know, but the plural of phenomenon is phenomena.

While deputy dog doesn't use caps, Neatorama doesn't use spellcheck! Thanks for pointing it out, guys.
