Origin of "Ye Olde"

We had a picture post of Ye Olde Tourist Trappe on Neatorama before, but have you ever thought about the origin of that word "Ye"?

According to Beautiful English Online (Neatorama author gail’s new blog), "Ye" was originally pronounced "the."
