Peng Shulin lost half his body when he was hit by a truck in 1995. After life-saving surgery, he was bedridden for twelve years. When doctors from the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing learned of Peng’s plight, they devised a plan and custom prosthetic legs, which he is now learning to use. Link -via Arbroath

I have the same question. It seems impossible that he’s alive.

But why did they only make him as tall as a 7 year old? Did they run out of money or what?

I think the height thing is more a center of gravity concern, as for bodily functions, he’s alive, so at the least his kidneys are intact, though the wreck most definitely “tore him a new …..”.

What I want to know, did anyone else think of Bob on The Oblongs when they saw this?

So, being half the man he used to be is better than hunching along the ground like a slug.

Would seem like a custom wheelchair would be much more sensible than 12 inch legs.

Good for him – props to the doctors from the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing…
