deviantArt is just the name of the website he’s hosted on, not the name of his gallery.

Deviant Art is actually a community for artists on the web where they can show off thier work, There are thousands of people who use Deviant Art, most of whom are a thouasand times better than this guy, who stole his elephants from Dali and his lighthouse and concept from a Gorillaz music video.

for better stuff, check out my friend Doc Hammer: http://doc-hammer.deviantart.com/

this image almost straight out of the gorillaz music video for “feel good, inc.” minus the elephant things.

The imagery AND the title of the thing.

They’re neat “influenced” pieces, but they should only be viewed as “inspired” tributes or artistic experiments, not complete original artworks.

I think Carl has it right. It’s a mash-up of various styles (Dali and Hewitt are certainly at the forefront) but to dismiss it straight because it’s influenced is a bit narrow minded. I linked it because I liked it and not because he had taken Dali’s elephants and Hewitt’s flying rocks from the Gorillaz. Doc Hammer’s stuff (Laura’s link above) is okay and competent but it doesn’t excite me.

The fact that this piece is named “Feel Bad, Inc.” means (ah duh) that it is an homage to “Feel Good, Inc.” not a ripoff.

Yep - a homage to the “Feel Good, Inc.”, video. The “islands in the sky” motif harks back to Roger Dean’s album covers for Yes, especially “Close To The Edge” (1973).

Just wanted to leave a comment about “Life”…
I first stumbled on this piece about a month ago. Probably only looked at it for a total of 8 seconds at that time, but it haunted me…I found it again recently and find myself drawn back to it again and again. I’ve always enjoyed art but this much emotional response is unusual for me. It is indeed “somehow strangely sad” as one person noted.

Anyway, I don’t know if anyone would appreciate this (but I’ll share it anyway), but there is a Bible verse that always come to my mind when I think about this piece:

Psalm 39:4 “LORD, make me to know my end,
And what is the measure of my days,
That I may know how frail I am.”
