If you think American Idol is big, that show is nothing compared to Eurovision, which has been broadcast every year since 1956, making it one of the longest-running TV program in the world.

Appleogen has this (long) post of YouTube clips of all(!) of the winning
performances since its inception: LinkThanks Uw Moeder!

Congratulations to Celine Dion for winning in 1988, despite the ugliest dress of the contest since 1953 :)

Oldest TV show? How about Hockey Night in Canada? Regularly broadcasted on the CBC every Saturday during the NHL season since 1952 (and since the 20s on the radio)?

it's hard to understand how big Eurovision is, unless you see it running for weeks prior as each country has to pick it's contestant and then competes with each other country across most of europe, not that any of the contestants are all that great... untill last year that is :) Lordi, and also Sylvia Night are both awesome
