Pillow Fight Too Violent for Canada?

Posted by Alex in Advertising on April 9, 2007 at 8:51 pm

Neatorama reader photosapience told us about this banned ad showing Toronto Blue Jays slugger Frank Thomas pillow fighting with his kid.

The Television Bureau of Canada pulled the ad (no reason given, may be too violent?). See if you agree: Link - Thanks photosapience!

God, that is unbelievable. Sometimes we go a little too far with the regulation up here.

Not true. Just minutes ago, I saw this VERY ad on TV. I did think it was mighty violent, mind you. (I live in Toronto, and it was on Global [channel 3 for people with Rogers service]. It was in the break of The Apprentice.)

It may not be the “violence” alone, but the violence to a kid used to sell something.

I saw it last night - not pulled completely. Maybe not such a big deal after all.
I thought it was kinda dumb. Maybe a little too strong, but violent? Maybe they should have just shown a grown man being hit in the genitals - that seems to be okay for kids’ movies.

Hey, that was pretty funny, although I can see how it might be viewed as violence against the kid. BTW, the Jays suck.

    Go Expos!

Frank Thomas could seriously hurt somebody with a pillow!

    Hahahahaha! The BIG HURT! :D
