Grand Canyon Skywalk is Nearly Here.

The Hualapai Tribe is rolling out its Grand Canyon Skywalk, a cantilever-shaped walkway that will allow you to see straight down to the canyon's floor 4,000 feet below as you walk on its glass floor. Ticket is $25 per person and the attraction is scheduled to be open March 28, 2007.

This seems like a very dishonest attraction. I guess every attraction has it's downsides but this comes with the mother-load. I'm glad I found this forum.

Okay here is the scoop:

$50 park admission per person
$25 per person skywalk :15 minutes max allowed on skywalk
No cameras, no cellphones (because if dropped will chip glass).

So for $75 per person, you get 15 minutes on a piece of glass and will have to pay the tribe for a photo memory of it in the end, that is after the install cameras down the road.....

On the Grand Canyon Skywalk website, you can see the architect's illustration. The skywalk looks nice. Unfortunately, the supports on the actual walkway are much bigger, uglier, and obstruct a lot of the view underneath.

There's no way I'd spend $25 for that - never mind the total cost of $75 that Bruce pointed out.

Also, if Native American tribes are broke, we should find a better way to help. Allowing them to scar the Grand Canyon like this shameful for all of us.
