This video clip from the Walking with Dinosaurs [official site | wiki] workshop shows the making of some very, very cool raptor suit as well as larger mechanical pieces. Very cool: Hit play or go to Link [YouTube] - via Pharyngula

Saw this show last night. It had its moments, but I occasionally found my eyes drooping due to slow parts of the production, particularly the pterodactyl. I mean, it just hung there. Fun show that I didn't have to pay for.

If I'm understanding it correctly, these were animatronic creatures built for a live stage show they're doing down in Australia. The ones in the avrious WWD TV shows are almost all (not terribly effective) CGI, with a smattering of puppets. These suits look much, much better than the CGI stuff! Wow! If they could digitally remove the puppeteer's legs, they'd have effects worthy of the next Jurassic Park!

I had to turn down the volume. Cool stuff, but the whole factory floor/ superherosounding music sounded a little pompous.

I want a raptor suit, too.
