Stretching Cures Hiccups.

Do you get hiccups frequently? Opiniorama shares a method to stop hiccups quickly (in case you don’t have a spoonful of peanut butter!):

I decided to do a little stretching while holding my breath so placed my hands above my door frame and leaned forward, and what do you know within seconds the hiccups stopped. You should feel an arch to your back and your abdomen stretching. Continue to push your hands upwards and let the weight of your body send you through the door frame. Maintain this stretched position for 30-60 seconds while holding a big breath.

It works by compressing the diaphragm, interfering with the intake of air, and stopping the spasms that result in hiccups.

The simple cure: Blow out all the air in your lungs. ALL of it. Hold until your diaphragm spasms to pull in air a few times. Take a breath. Done.
Never fails. Then again, maybe this only works for me and complicated really is better.

Also an excellent stretch for avoiding repetitive strain injury or that nasty awful tingling pain in your arms that comes from assuming the position hunched over your keyboard.

It worked! I tried it today. I didn’t even hold my breath for too long – just two seconds. Done. This is astonishing! The REAL cure.
