Gerald Ford Died.

By Alex in Politics on Dec 27, 2006 at 1:08 am

Former US President Gerald Ford died today. Ford was the first US President ever appointed to the Vice-Presidency and then the Presidency (when Nixon resigned) without ever having been elected to either office.

According to Wikipedia, Ford was the 38th President to be born, the 38th to serve, and the 38th to die.

Can someone help me out here? Reagan served after Ford but died before him. That means someone who served before Ford would have to have to still be alive to make him the 38th to die. But after Ford’s death, Carter is the longest to survive post-presidency.
    Right?
Was there someone who was president twice with an interrupting between terms?
