World’s Largest Model Railroad.

Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg is building the largest model railroad in the world. When they’re done, there will be:

.. more than 1,000 trains hauling more than 15,000 cars (carriages) on this already largest railroad of the world. Nearly 60 computers control realistic train runs, nearly 300 vehicles, and something around 200,000 lights.

All in all, about 150,000 trees, 150,000 figures, 5,000 vehicles, more than 10,000 meters track, 5,000 structures and bridges, more than 1,500 signals, 3,000 turnouts (switches), and a wonderful scenery will care for a superlative model railroad.

This was the finest display of the art of modeling that I
have ever seen! My most sincere congradulations and admiration to all who conceived and built this incredible
landscape. If I’m ever in Germany I’m going to make this
exhibit a highest priority destination. Thank you for taking your time to do it right.
