Family Won a Morning of Disneyland All to Themselves.

The Spangler family of Randolph, Ohio won the marquee prize in Disney’s "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration. They were chosen from 50,000 online entrants to win: a morning at the Magic Kingdom all by themselves!

Walking hand-in-hand on a red carpet, Raymond and Tammy Spangler and their two children seemed unsure of their steps Wednesday at Walt Disney World.

The Magic Kingdom was eerily quiet, with only the chirping of birds, piped in orchestra music and the sound of their footsteps filling the 125-acre park. They were about halfway up the red carpet to the Cinderella Castle when all that dissolved and 1,500 mouses, maids, baseball players and princesses came streaming out of hiding to welcome them.

"There were like thousand and thousands of people in the streets all of the sudden," 13-year-old Derick Spangler said.

only an hour? you spend about an hour just getting around the park. that wasn’t a very good prize. i thought it was ALL morning, but I guess if it opened later AND the places where the family were got closed off that would be better!

my family would have got so much more fun out of it! lol!

You can get the same affect by staying at the Disney hotels and getting the “early entrance” package. We once rode Space Mountain four times straight. Didn’t even have to get off. It was a nice couple of hours.

In high school we did our senior trip to Disneyland and rode the rides all night, that’s pretty cool as well. That was back when we still knew what an “E Ticket” ride meant…

But half the fun of Diney parks is the crowds. I don’t think it would be much fun to be there without at least some other folks around.

did they get *Disneyland* or *Disney World*?

Not to be nitpicky, but they’re on opposite coasts……

It was Disney World in Florida, not Disneyland in California.

CNN is so lame, calling it “a morning” when it was in fact an hour. Charli’s right, that’s enough time to hustle through three marquee rides unimpeded.

Having all those characters come pouring out at you would be a major rush though. That was a great touch, But then again, what wold the park do? Let them wander around with nothing but that disney muzak on? That would have made a very surreal home video.
