We’ve blogged before that ambergris [wiki], essentially a sperm whale vomit, is worth beaucoup bucks because it is used in perfumes. Yes – perfumes.
Here’s another find, this time in Australia:
“The last record, in fact there were two, occurred in Queensland. One where-by, I think in Moreton Bay, two small pieces were found, but I would suggest together would make up half the size of the one that’s been found at Streaky Bay. And they realised something like $190,000 each.”
