I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around the last two. I didn’t think that could be done in 3d.

This direct link to A. Lipson’s website is working, though: http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/relativity.html

I’ll do a quick save of the images (in case this link go down as well), since I very much want to find out how on Earth he actually managed to render the Escher views in 3D!!

Hehe, the last two are fake… “Waterfall” is a montage of two pictures and “Ascending…” is correct only at a certain viewpoint.

In any case, these guys are GENIUSES!

    That’s curious!
How much time he spant doing it?
Only on Belvedere it’s clear how it was done….
By the way, are all these lego parts available?

I believe the impossible triangles and such can be created in the lego pictures, because the pictures themselves are not in 3d! If you examined the actual 3d model of lego, then the effect would go away.

While the last one is probably perspective, the second to last is almost certainly accomplished by having the blocks on an angle. In this way, you actually end up with a level surface, which the angled pieces stick out of.
