Nano-Microscopy of a Butterfly Wing.

Sergei Kalinin of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Alexei Gruverman of North Carolina State University have created a new electromechanical imaging technique.

They used tiny blasts of sound to probe the surface and subsurface of delicate biological materials (for example, wing of a butterfly).

This new "nanoscope" can also visualize things at the level of a single molecule. Link

The Minaret at Jam in Afghanistan was built in the 12th century. It stands alone in a remote valley surrounded by barren mountains. The tower is decorated with calligraphy and is accented with turquise ceramics.
