When Exigua Got Your Tongue, It’s For Real.

Cymothoa exigua is an insect that grabs onto a fish’s tongue, and slowly eats away at it until only a stub is left. It then replaces the tongue with its own body, living comfortably inside the fish’s mouth. Link

    Cymothoa exigua is actually a crustacean, not an insect. it is an Isopod, related to the common “pill bug”, or “roly poly”. It is also related to shrimp and crabs.
