I don't appreciate Neatorama taking a political stance in a post one way or another. Nor do I appreciate the attempt by Neatorama to ridicule the beliefs and values of the majority of the population. I just found this site and am ejoying it's content, but if you wish to take such a bold political stance, I'll have to boycott this site and reccomend that others follow suit.

I hated trying to work out the price of things in the US. Annoying little pennies and random unlisted taxes as you pass through states. In Aus all prices must include taxes, and everything rounds to the nearest 5c when dealing in cash.

I'm not making an argument for or against. Just explaining a fact.

Lutheranism is a sect of Christianity, and Christianity is an off-shoot of Judaism. They are related groups. the FLDS is a fundamentalist off-shoot of the main LDS church. You can try to deny that, but it doesn't make it any less true.

I can only assume that you don't care for the association, because the fringe/off-shoot groups give the main church a bad name. Your feelings aren't important here. These people belong to a religion founded by Joseph Smith. That's a real thing.

Ahh. I see. You're a Mormon. You folks sure are sensitive.

They are fringe groups who happen to believe they're following the true teachings of the church. Now, the main church in SLC may disagree with that, but the Fringe groups are Mormons as well. Excommunicated or not, they're still practicing the faith.

Anywho, in terms of Polygamy in the USA, one has to start with LDS fringe groups, as they're the most active proponents of the idea.

Of course, one could argue the opposite point. That being that not everyone is a Christian, and shouldn't have to live according to Christian law.

That said, it's perfectly allowable in the bible.

Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.
Deuteronomy 21:15 "If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons...."
Matthew 22:23-32 "23. That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
24. "Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him.
25. Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother.
26. The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh.
27. Finally, the woman died.
28. Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?"
Matthew 22:24-28, Jesus did not prohibit at all for the childless widow to marry her husband's brother (even if he were married).

The bible seems to be a bit fuzzy on the subject. I don't think you can say outright that bible forbids it, or god forbids it .. unless you're saying the bible isn't the word of god ...

A lot of drivers, especially in Russia, record everything that's happening on their journeys. In case an accident happens they then have video evidence to show insurance companies and avoid fraud from the other party.
