Hm... i don't want to interfere with someone's business, but would it be possible to try to overcome the fear by watching videos of bridge crossings from a driver's perspective? You may watch it in slow motion, you may successively increse a distance to a point where you dont want to go futher, and you may at any instance pause, stop or interrupt the video, until you have seen the whole trip a few times.. Finally you may use the Kent Island Express as a front passenger, until you get so used to it that you may take teh trip by yourself...

I'll be the first to admit that certain kinds of both phobic and involuntary responses are a healthy thing once in a while
but other times, I'm not so sure

I had a friend who had a phobia about driving over bridges, matching the feelings of some of the Reddit commenters. I'm scared of heights, but can manage bridges by looking straight ahead. Were things a bit worse, I could see paying someone to help. Like, the last time I was on an aerial tramway I had to keep my eyes closed for the first 30 seconds.

Clearly a modern parody based on the vehicles, but well done.

This just looks like an excuse to grapple each other for fun and gratification.

I should have put the /s on my comment as well. John really should have used Smoots instead of DeForest Kelleys.

ugh, deleted my original comment because a response based on a misinterpretation is a useless response. Not catching the blatantly obvious sarcasm is what happens when I stay up past my bedtime.

Fahrenheit is a scale based on human comfort. Zero is really cold, and 100 is really hot, in human terms. It's quite simple, but not at all random. Centigrade is fine when you want to boil or freeze water. Kelvin is for mad scientists.

Being on the metric system, I wasn't familiar with the DeForest Kelley unit of measurement. I guess it's another confusing American measurement that makes as much sense as that weird temperature unit. Fartytarts? Fearofheights? You know what I mean, that one that is just based on random numbers selected from a hat for freezing and boiling and then a scale slapped in it. Voila!

My town has three McDonald's, and you can smell each of them at least that far away. Luckily, they are clustered with other aromatic restaurants.

I played Bughouse in high school (found under the "12 Bizarre Chess Variants" link). Very fun to play. Brings back memories.

I thought of the 1967 Gilligan's Island episode "Splashdown" where they tried to signal "SOS" to the passing spacecraft using burning logs, but Gilligan ended up turning it into "SOL" - one of the astronauts is named Sol Tobias, and he thinks the "SOL" is to honor him.

This post is a breathtakingly perfect example of doublespeak. What is it about, anyway? A person with low vision using a text-to-speech app would be flummoxed.
