She got off light in Chicago.

In Cincinnati, our cops would have killed her. I say that in complete seriousness, unfortunately.

I do wonder why she didn't ask for a lawyer though...perhaps her thinking was that if she asked for one, she'd look guilty? Just speculation. Then again, how was she thrown in for 10 months?

I feel horrible for her and believe she does deserve justice, but there's a lot missing in the story.

I think it's sad, I don't understand why you are being so harsh. Yes, things change, that is inevitable, but that doesn't make some of those changes any less meaningful (for good or bad).
And eminent domain is bull. They have torn down thousands of houses to build big box stores and then cried out asking why all the people in the city were leaving! It is no longer used for the purpose it was intended. I have to agree with Denise64 on this one.
You can't just call her a whiner and be done with it. And lux, way to completely assume they are only tearing down "low income shanties" because they aren't. That sounds a little self-important to me.

Just because dogs like hanging their heads out the window, does not mean they want the rest of themselves out the window.

I'm going to have to point out that most people associate "service animal" with dogs, but "animal" does not limit it to just dogs. Cats are hard to train, but they can act as service animals. Many people (with the finances) have monkeys to help them, and I've even heard of birds.
What gets me is that he already took the cat through, so I think there's miscommunication on the part of the manager and the employees?
And whatever his social problems, PTSD is not a "cop-out". Vets are not the only ones who experience extreme psychological trauma. Rape victims, abuse victims, and people in other horrible situations experience it. I would not be so quick to dismiss something because of its intangibility as an illness.
