There's a great deal more sharing going on there than would ever happen between our three. Meep wouldn't stand any nonsense like that from Chlorine or Fluorine, who she still treats as rebellious kittens and probably always will. Just as (the now defunct) Shrimp did to her when she was younger.

Frankly, if it includes "detox" in the lists, it's already fairly far down my list of things I trust. We have kidneys and livers - and in my case they work just fine.

Am I alone in finding IKEA instructions comprehensive and easy to follow? They're clear, logical and effective. And slightly smug but hey, it's IKEA - SMUG is probably a cushion cover with a print of electric rats on it, or something.
Lego throw in extra parts from time to time, and no one ever complains about them.

It's missing the one that bugs me most...Overattentive Staff.
Please - I've ordered my meal. You've delivered it. I'm eating it.
If I require further attention, I'll make eye contact, or catch you as you pass.
PLEASE leave me with my partner to enjoy our meal without doing the "customer service" thing. Or at least, learn to take the hint the first time that we'd rather eat our meal in peace.

As the paper says - the issue of Russia having control of Alaska is probably a non-starter since it would probably have ended up in Canadian hands.

It would be intriguing to imagine what might have happened had it stayed in Russian hands - the impact on the American psyche of the 50s would have been immense - or so it seems from this side of the Atlantic from this many years after.

Putting it in Park won't do anything at speed, the pawl just skitters along the top of the teeth and won't engage. What it will do is bring you violently to a very nasty halt when you've already slowed down a lot.

Secondly, you don't lose brakes by turning the engine off - but you will if you keep waggling the pedal. There's plenty of vacuum in the servo (or in my case pressure in the reservoir 'cos it's a Citroën) to allow you to use the pedal three or four times before you lose power assist.

Reminds me, somewhat, of the lecturer who was explaining that though a double negative makes a positive, a double positive doesn't make a negative..

"Yeah, right." came a call from the audience.

On the scale of horrid things done to children, this is fairly minor. That's not to say I'm in favour of it, and of course there's always the worry that having one very different view about what's appropriate may be associated with all sorts of other more damaging views.

I wouldn't prosecute, though - I can't see that it'd be in anyone's interests. I would keep an eye on them, though. And suggest that they don't do it again.
