Ursula K. LeGuine, Octavia Butler, Anne McCaffery, Mary Shelley, Leigh Brackett are all female sci-fi writers whose works would definitely qualify as being Best of All Time. Some of the list feels a little stretched and having several books by one author also feels a little bit arbitrary. Not everything Heinlein wrote was gold. I'm not sure about the above etymology goes far enough to explain that it was used in the West to describe easterners on vacations in the West and became a part of Western American English a derogatory term. This is frustrating and messy and what is worse is that the whole case as esentially outed McClain. Most astronauts live incredibly private lives to protect their family. Even Sally Ride's family did not reveal she was gay until after her death. While it is true that McClain's marriage could have been searched out she chose to live privately and now this lawsuit or whatever it has done has outed her and not in a positive way. Kudos for McClain being an astronaut and LGBT but boo on the way we had to find out.

I'm pretty sure I rented a couple of these places. I remember one in New York where the shower was in the kitchen and there was a toilet in the pantry. I remember one morning taking a shower and my roommate cooking eggs next to me on the stove.

The problem is the assumption that water infrastructure is safe. Sure in a world where the water comes out of the tap pure and clean bottled water doesn't make sense. When you live in arguably one of the most modern countries and the world and there are thosands of reports that cities are telling their citizens to boil their water, or use filters bottled water sounds like a viable backup because at least the bottled water is being regulated by a 3rd party.

More and more I hate twitter. I'm not a twitter user and rarely hear anything positive about twitter. Sure maybe ten years ago it helped with the Arab Spring but today it feels like a dumpster fire of both bad posters and bad fans. Is this really the forum of world discourse? Sad very sad.

At one place I worked we refered to freezer sizes by how many dead bodies you could hide in them.
