I was really glad to see this post. The coolness of neatorama stupidly inflated my hopes for the readers' responses. Pretty sure I could fill an entire bingo card with all the derailing and belittling of the manifestations/realities of racism. I will never understand why white people's response to People of Color asking to be treated with dignity and respect is to vehemently defend their right to say and do whatever they want with claims of OMGcensorship.

When you step on someone's foot and they say "ouch", you get off their foot and apologize, not defend your right to step on people, tell them they're too sensitive, lay fault on them because they dare to have feet, and tell them that if they didn't complain about it, their toes wouldn't be broken.
