Comics About Your Nerdy Dating Life

(4 Comics That Perfectly Describe Life As A Pokemon Fan)

Dating can be extremely awkward for extroverts, and since most nerds are somewhat introverted people assume nerd dating will be doubly awkward.

But nerd dating can actually be quite magical, as two people passionate about geeky stuff discover they can share their pop culture passion with another person without feeling like a lame Psyduck.

(4 Comics That Perfectly Describe Life As A Pokemon Fan)

Of course, that same passion can lead to arguments, name calling and hurt feelings, as the nerdy couple becomes more comfortable with each other and stops holding back their passionate outbursts.

(Star-Crossed Gamers)

But if your nerdy dating experiences are anything like mine you'll soon find that special person you want to game with for a while and Netflix and chill with for always.

Sushi That Look Like Koi

(Photo: Grape)

It's called nishikigoi no sugatazushi, which translates as "multicolored koi-shaped sushi." It's all the rage in Japan--and you can see why! These forms are both beautiful and tasty. My Modern Met tells us that you can get them for about $6.70 a piece at the Nishikizushi sushi shop in Saiki.

What Items In Pokemon Would Look Like In Real Life

The cutesy look of the anime series Pokemon makes the strange items used by Trainers seem harmless, but when this gear is realistically rendered some of it starts to look a bit sinister.

In fact, if you think about the Pokemon universe in realistic terms what they're doing to those poor little pocket monsters is messed up!

The creators claim these items are imbued with a magical energy that gives them their powers, but there's nothing magical about pointing a loaded gun at another trainer's head and demanding extra prize money!

And then there are those "items" that we normally called drugs in real life-they make the most sense, because how else are you going to get a Pokemon to sit around inside that ball all day?

Barber Gets Down on the Floor to Give a Haircut to a Little Boy with Autism

(Photo: Denine Davies)

Mason has never had a complete haircut. It's a very difficult experience for him because he has autism. But when Mason came with his mom into a barber shop in West Glamorgan, UK, barber Jim Williams found a solution. Mason wanted to lie on the floor instead of sit in the chair. So Jim got down on the floor with him. ABC News reports:

Then, on Nov. 3, Williams said he was finally able to give Mason the "perfect haircut" by distracting Mason with an iPhone and letting the little boy lay down as he worked.

"He allowed me to cut around his neck and his ears," Williams said. "Obviously his mother was glowing because something happened there. He allowed me to give him his first proper haircut and that was a great achievement."

Mason's mother, Denine Davies, said she is grateful for Williams' patience and kindness.

"I think Jim is fantastic with Mason," Davies told ABC News. "He always takes the time to chat to Mason, gives him a high five each time we visit and always puts 'SpongeBob SquarePants' on for him in the salon. Williams has gone above and beyond the call of a regular hairdresser."

Denali

This is the story of a dog named Denali and his life with photographer Ben Moon. You will want to have a hankie ready, especially if you’ve ever loved a dog. Scratch that, you will cry even if you’ve never loved a dog. Denali had a wonderful life, but like that of all dogs, it was too short.

Cannoli Donuts Are the Best of Both Worlds

Donuts are delicious and so are cannolis, but the best part of the cannoli is certainly the inside, while the deep-fried dough of the donuts is heavenly. So why not stuff the donut with cannoli filling? The creator at Oh Bite It warns that these are dangerously addicting and you might find they disappear before your very eyes.

How Dogs See the World

Humans don't make any sense. They turn up their noses at treats that cats leave on the ground. They vanish for years at a time every day. They voluntarily immerse themselves in water--for pleasure! Thankfully, cartoonist Robert Brown explains their behavior in a series of cartoons for College Humor. You can read the rest here.

Car Mechanic Leaves Note for Whovian Car Owner

What makes your car run? Well, it's hard to explain. Your car engine is a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. If it breaks, take the car to your neighborhood auto mechanic and TARDIS technician. Tumblr blogger Traci took her car to one, who, after seeing all of the Doctor Who-themed paraphernalia inside, left an appropriate note.

A Magic: the Gathering Wedding Proposal

Lindsey Loree had more on her mind than a fun game of Magic: the Gathering when she interrupted her boyfriend Eric's Lego fun to ask him to play the game with her. Her request didn't seem to Eric to be anything out of the ordinary, as he had been teaching her to play for six months. But what happened during their game was nothing ordinary. As Eric told the story (his account is here and her account is here),

"We’re in the middle of the game and both hovering around ten life. She’s looking awfully giddy and I’m thinking she’s got some power card that’ll spell doom for me. So I play Time Spiral. She was not happy. We reset and on her turn she smiled and threw a card on the table. What I felt next was confusion. What was that card? Five white for a sorcery and the picture was some dude kissing a girl? There’s no card like that. Well, there is now."

What Lindsey handed him was the card below, asking Eric to marry her.

Quite a game changer! He goes on with his story,

"Of course I said yes. I made a joking fuss about how her cards were sleeved and mine weren’t and how it’d be really hard to shuffle them. Then she gave me a ring pop, to make it official.

Now, there was a little cheating on her part. I Time Spiraled the card back into her library and while I was shuffling she dropped it in her lap to make sure it was in her next hand. But I suppose that can be forgiven given the circumstances."

Way to be flexible with the rules when necessary! Congratulations to the happy couple. -Via Geekologie.

The Names of Pokémon in Other Languages

Cartoonist James Chapman likes to illustrate the words used in different languages for common sounds, such as chewing, sneezing, and dogs barking. Now he reveals something that surprised me: Pokémon have different names in different languages.
Some of the choices are particularly good. Relaxo is an excellent name for Snorlax and Karpador works well for Magikarp.

10 Best and Worst (Actual) Sleeping Positions for Couples

The best part of love is sleeping with your partner. The worst part of love is also sleeping with your partner.

Molly Fitzpatrick and Allison Pottasch show us the best and worst (actual) sleeping positions for couples in this post for Swimmingly. Surprisingly, the blanket thief position isn't shown, but that's probably because every couple is familiar with that.
