Former Home Makeover Participants Are Showing What Their Homes Look Like Now - And It’s Not That Great

Here’s why you should take everything you see on TV with a grain of salt. Okay, maybe not everything, but some shows apparently leave people with more problems! A recent Reddit thread by user u/akumamatata8080 asked: "People who’ve been on home renovation shows, how’s the house holding up?" People who have participated in TV home makeovers shared their experiences on the thread. Buzzfeed picks out some of the best responses.

WE did a lot of work on our od 2 story wood frame house back in CNY. When we sold it after moving to SW FL, the real estate agent had it listed as "Dream House" in the paper.

The very first home made over on the very first home-makeover show was in my neighborhood. Had a few drinks with the owners. In many cases, no work was done. For example, Light fixtures and plumbing were attached to walls and not connected to anything. They were given $50,000 and told to keep quiet.
How did I find out about this? After the $50K was delivered, what was the point to keeping quiet?
