What's the funniest movie you've ever seen? Comedy is certainly subjective, but a well-crafted funny film that appeals to many is likely to become a hit, then a classic. It may even become a standard bearer for the humor of its era. This list of the 30 best comedies is in chronological order instead of rank, so you can read through the history of cinematic comedy, while reading what made each movie great and seeing a clip besides. It's over at Mental Floss.
Strangely, I've seen all these movies before 1995, and none after. It's amazing what having children does to your free time.

Pretty good list. As with Miss C, I haven't seen many of them after 1995. (Except Best In Show and Shaun of the Dead). I would have added: Some Like it Hot, Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! On the bright side: There was not one Adam Sandler movie.

A movie that made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt----Animal House. All to close to some of my own college experiences.

Everyone knows these lists are more about generating comments. But, jeez, at least the author presents a pretty good list and you can argue more about placement, or that one film that was left out (or shouldn't even be mentioned). I've the impression this dude hasn't seen very many movies. And I guess I'll have to add Booksmart. 2019 might be a bit too soon for a movie to make an all-time list, but I suspect this one will get there. The claymation scene by itself was worth the price of admission.

Some of these new movies try way too hard to be funny, definitely adding this to my quarantine movie bucket list

A) I don't know how Dumb and Dumber is not on this list, and B) 9 to 5 isn't that funny.
