How Long Does It Take For A Hacker To Crack Your Password?

Websites always remind us to create a strong password, one that has numbers, upper and lowercase letters, as well as symbols. There are even some websites which measure the strength of a password, if it’s very weak or very strong. And then there are sites who would not accept your password if it doesn’t have the elements that make a strong password. But have you ever wondered why the constant reminder?

This infographic from Hive Systems shows how long it takes before a hacker can crack your password.

So how much time will a hacker take before he can crack your password?

Let’s be real. No one remembers complicated passwords. They are always written down. The real danger is someone finding the pad of paper. Most theft is not from hackers but from employees, family and friends.

Oh, I know. I didn't want to get too deep into it with trying to cover different hashes, rainbow tables, salts, etc... This is probably a marketing infographic. Simplicity, colors, and ambiguity aside, the basic concept is still sound.
Use longer passwords(and don't reuse them between sites).

Some of the people who use 'hashcat' to crack a password report numbers like 100 billion hash tests per second, for some hash types, so 139.3 billion/sec is entirely reasonable. Terahash will sell dedicated hardware which can, for some hash types, test over 1 trillion/sec. Buy more hardware = faster.
This chart doesn't mention which hash type they consider, which is another problem with it.
