How to Fold a Fitted Sheet

Thanksgiving and Christmas often means visiting relatives, which means breaking out extra bedding. How do those fitted sheets work? Cartoonist Matthew Gallman has a step-by-step guide.

Honestly, I usually skip steps 1 and 2 and proceed directly to 3.

I've read a number of guides on how to fold fitted sheets. One involves getting inside the sheet and lying down. #### that! I just do my best, and don't give a rat's arse.

1: Fold flat sheet into a rectangle 1/2 as long as the sheet and 1/4 as wide. Lay rectangle down. 2: Fold pillow cases as usual, stack on flat sheet.3: Kind of fold fitted sheet until it's a square the same width as the rectangle. Width, not length. Set on top of pillow cases.4: Fold flat sheet rectangle over/around the cases and fitted sheet until you have a nice neat tight square. Store.
Never look for the matching pieces again. Nice neat bundle. Stores easily.
