Man Is Reunited With His Car 20 Years After Forgetting Where He Parked It

Have you ever lost your car in a parking lot and felt like you were losing your mind?

You probably wandered around for no more than fifteen or twenty minutes before locating your car and having that rush of relief wash over you as you realize you're not crazy after all- you're just a little forgetful.

Now imagine how forgetful you'd have to be to completely forget where you parked your car and thereby "lose" it for twenty long years.

Yeah, I can't imagine it either, but there's a guy in Frankfurt who can, and after losing his Volkswagen Passat in a parking lot in 1997, assuming it had been stolen, he was reunited with it after police found it parked right where he'd left it:

Authorities in Frankfurt, Germany found the car parked in a garage building. The reason why the car suddenly became conspicuous after being parked there for so long is that the building is now set for demolition.

At the time, the owner of the car phoned the authorities to report the car missing. After the car was found, police drove the now 76-year-old owner to be reunited with the Volkswagen Passat. However, after 20 years of inactivity in the garage, the car was deemed unfit to drive.

When he lost the car, the man thought that he had searched for the car extensively and figured that it had been stolen. However, police said that it was just hidden from view and was in the exact spot where he had left it 20 years prior.

He must have had a spare car in his garage for just such an occasion.
