How Male Body Ideals Have Changed Over The Last 150 Years

Female body ideals have changed many times over the last few centuries, sometimes changing multiple times within the same era, but male body ideals tend to change far less frequently.

According to artist Nickolay Lamm the ideal male body type has only changed about five or six times in the last 150 years, and the ideal male body type is now more average than ever before.

From the Fat Man's Club of the 1870s to the skinny rockers of the 60s to the beefcake 80s and back to normal again, Nickolay created 3D models to illustrate some of the main male body types seen as ideal over the last few centuries.

One that never went out of style and never will- the Muscular Mesomorph, aka the Clark Gable.
