Melted Chocolate Sphere

Pour hot chocolate or caramel sauce over the sphere. It melts quickly, revealing an ice cream treat inside. It's a luxurious and beautiful dessert that I want to eat right now.

How would you make one? Chef Byron Talbott shows you how in this video. You'll need a spherical mold. Melt dark chocolate and pour it into the mold. As it cools, turn the mold until the chocolate coats the entire interior. Then refrigerate it, turning every 2-3 minutes to ensure an even coat.

Talbott has a clever way to open the sphere without breaking it: he heats a little cup, then places the sphere on it. The hot cup melts a circle out of the chocolate, permitting Talbott to place it over ice cream.
