The 25 Most Rewatchable Films

What movie could you watch over and over again without getting bored? For Walt Hickey of the statistics blog FiveThirtyEight, it's the 2009 film Star Trek. But that's just his personal taste. He conducted an online poll asking people to name the most rewatchable films of all time. Here are the top 10:

I certainly agree with the #1 pick. Star Wars never really gets old--especially Episode IV. I am a bit surprised with Gone with the Wind, though. Is it really that compelling?

Gone with the Wind has some factors going that particularly attract women: strong female characters, romance, heartbreak, and gorgeous clothing and sets. It got my daughters interested in learning about the Civil War, despite having no battle scenes.

In the same vein, I don't see the attraction in rewatching The Godfather or The Shawshank Redemption, but those are very popular with men.

I got through Gone with the Wind once. Never need to revisit it. Same with Shawshank Redemption and It's a Wonderful Life. I get why people love them but I've never been a fan. I've seen Raiders of the Lost Ark over 100 times so you can guess what would be at the top of my list. :D

6 of those movies I personally can do without ever needing to see again.

Kind of shocked that Raiders of the Lost Ark didn't make the list. Also I would have had When Harry Meet Sally.

Raiders ought to be there. As should be Back to the Future, The Untouchables, Die Hard (I watch it every Xmas!), Taken, True Lies, Ip Man, Toy Story 3, Bourne series, Patriot Games, Sum of all Fears, Mission Impossible 1 and 3, Tremors, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

So many.
I seem to watch 12 Monkeys whenever it comes on. And anything by Monty Python. I seem to catch Back to the Future 3 occasionally.
Christmas time used to be the old animated Grinch Who Stole Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, and the B&W Alistair Sim Christmas Carol.
For a twist ending, Sixth Sense is still fun to catch bits of occasionally.
