The ukulele will forever be known as the sound of the Hawaiian islands since that's where the stringed instrument, a modified version of a Portuguese machete, originated. 

People around the world have fallen in love with the soothing sounds made by that little four stringed strummer, but would a $20 ukulele work for a beginner or is that cheap model merely a toy?
