Illuminated Zigzagging Staircase Seems to Hover in Midair

(Photo: Deco Design)

French designer Frédéric Hamerlak developed this unique staircase that looks like it belongs in a science fiction movie. LEDs light up the plastic sheets that serve as stairs, which are connected to only the wall. They are angled horizontally in a zigzag pattern. A panel resembling a railing runs alongside them. When they light up in the darkness, the visual effect is quite stunning. You can see more photos at Home Crux.

Maybe you would see it in science FICTION, but not in any real-life scenario.
I assume that any future society will be more practical and probably just as litigious as we are.
Not safe for: children, the elderly, the disabled, the inebriated (from tipsy to soused), people with inner ear infections, sleepwalkers, moving furniture, carrying the laundry basket, people in a hurry, people who take the steps two at a time, pirates, etc...

I like it. Stairs always look like stairs, but the zigzag pattern and floating mount actually breaks it up and makes it non-obvious that you're supposed to walk up these.
