Big Dreams

Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.

How many times have we heard this advice? And when we hear it, we all have a sort of fantasy that we never manage to share. This reminds me of the time I told my youngest child, who was four or so at the same, that she could be anything she wanted when she grew up. She declared, "I wanna be a fish!" From Extra Fabulous Comics. Link

When my kids were in elementary school, (son - 1/2 day kindergarten, daughter - 2nd grade) I had my own business. I made customized costumes for people, parade floats, car shows, Halloween contests, you name it. It wasn't unusual to have strangers walking around the house as giant bluebirds or caterpillars w/8 movable arms.

One day my son was waiting for his big sister to come home from school. My daughter's excited and smiling like crazy because the Girl Scouts had a program for younger girls at her school and she says "Guess what, Mom? I'm gonna be a brownie!" My son says "Great, Sissy. You be a brownie and I'll be a cupcake!"
