WTF Is A Bagelhead?

Watch out for these freaks, because they've got a forehead shaped like a bagel and an oy vey attitude to match!

Bagelheads have their foreheads injected with a saline solution that they mold into a bagel-like shape, and it's a trend that's still blowing up in Japan many years later.

Adrienne first brought you the story of the Bagelhead body modification trend in June of 2011 (Link), and I can't help but wonder- why is this still a thing?!

Shannon, your statement reminds me of this Michael Crichton quote:

Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray's case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the "wet streets cause rain" stories. Paper's full of them.

In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

It might be new for people who don't surf the net, peruse blog pic dumps or didn't have access to a computer. Or maybe people who use a public institutions computers which have sites like Bme blocked. Hmm??

I first brought this to the public in the 1990s. I wrote a short history of it here:
http://news.bmezine.com/2012/09/24/the-so-called-latest-trend-bagelheads/

It's very, very silly that this is being called a "trend" let alone something "new". It really drives home how incompetent the world of journalism is, even empires like National Geographic. And I always have to wonder. If they can't get BASIC stuff like this factually correct, stuff that can be confirmed with a simple google search or an email, why should I trust ANYTHING they write on ANY subject?
