Hitchhiker Writing about the Kindness of America Got Shot

Ray Dolin, 39, was hitchhiking across the United States to write a memoir about the kindness of Americans, when he got shot by one!

"He was sitting down to have a little lunch and this guy drives up. He thought he was going to give him a ride and as he approached the vehicle, the guy pulls out his weapon and shoots him. It's as simple as that," [Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier] said.

Betcha that will make it into the book: Link

Update 6/15/12 - The story gets stranger:
A West Virginia man who claimed to be a victim of a drive-by shooting along a rural Montana highway while working on a memoir called "Kindness in America" has confessed to shooting himself, authorities said Friday.

Hitchhiking isn't across the board illegal...it varies from state to state and city to city. Clearly you have the internet, you could have looked it up before you said something unintelligent.
