Theme weddings are all the rage, but it takes a true avant-garde artist to turn your own wedding into a performance art. That's what Gavin Turk and Deborah Curtis did on their wedding:
Six years ago, the couple launched a project called The House Of Fairytales, which featured exhibits based on familiar childhood stories.
One piece on show yesterday was Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother's bed, although Grannie appeared to have been thrown out of it at the expense of two men – one dressed as a sheep and the other wearing a sailor's hat.
Were they warming it up for the newly-weds? "No, just need a kip," groaned the sailor.
There were witches, wolves and toy soldiers and, standing distractedly in the rain beneath a Mikado-style parasol, was Gavin himself, looking – apart from his shaven head – like a junior footman from Downton Abbey. He was not able to say much about the wedding, having a done a Hello!-type deal on the rights, but all his guests were confident it would be a big success.
