Rethink Your Drink

The post doesn't say who made this display, but it's a great way to visualize the amount of sugar in what you drink. Personally, I prefer black coffee with my sugar on the side in the form of a doughnut; that's easy to visualize. Link -via Nag on the Lake

Today many people are addicted to fast food or soft drinks. But you can see that the amount of sugar in what you drink. This is really the best way to people aware of the food addiction or soft drink addiction and how it will affects on the health.

Antoine - personally, I think HFCS is *worse* than real sugar, although I have absolutely no scientific proof to support that opinion.

My father is a Type II Diabetic with a soda addiction. A couple years ago, Pepsico brought out "throwback" varieties of Pepsi and Mt. Dew, made with cane sugar instead of HFCS and going back to the old recipes from the mid 60s. Dad switched to Throwback Dew instead of the current HFCS variety, but made no other changes to his diet or exercise levels. Over the course of the six weeks that the Throwbacks were available that first time around, his daily fasting blood sugar dropped by 50 points.

Another nice side effect of using sugar instead of HFCS is that the soda isn't as fizzy and it goes down more smoothly. I find regular formula Dew to be acidic and biting, and there is way too much carbonation coming out of a can or bottle when first opened - it gets up my nose and in my eyes. Of course, Throwback still has as many calories as its HFCS equivalent, so don't be fooled into thinking that you're drinking something good for you.
