The Paranal Observatory is a Very Large Telescope on Cerro Paranal mountain in the Atacama desert of Chile. There is no light pollution to interfere with stargazing. Having been in the smoke of London for 10 years and dreaming of clear skies, this video confirms what you can see when you get away from urban areas. Good find.

Seeing this video really does make you want to pack up and go! I have been to places where there is much less light pollution than the cities and urban areas, but looking at those pictures, it seemed as though you could see stars on the opposite horizon even before the sun was completely set. I really hope that one day I will have the opportunity to see something as astonishing as this.
