River Rock Balancing

Michael Grab is an artist who works in an unusual medium: balanced rocks. He stacks rocks from rivers on top of each other with no additional connections. It is a meditative act for him, as well as an exploration of "notions of impermanence and death." Check out his gallery at the link. http://www.gravityglue.com/Gallery.html -via Boing Boing (where there's a video)

From memory (not the best memory either) the first time I had seen this type of art work was from about 20 years ago, a homeless artist on Vancouver Island was making these rock stacks on the side of the main highway. He worked in the late hours of the night and in the AM.

It was a mystery for a few weeks until he was spotted.

Still very cool!

I hate this balancing rock crap! It ruins the wilderness experience for everybody. Go into the wilderness and leave no sign you were ever there, for the well being of those who follow after you.
