Military Vehicle Design Inspired by Batman Movie

British defense contractor BAE Systems unveiled a concept image for an unmanned armored vehicle that was inspired by the Batmobile as it appeared in the 2005 movie Batman Begins. Project leader Hisham Awad directly attributed the design to Batmobile:

While Awad was showing one of his team’s concept vehicles, the unmanned skirmisher known as Raider, another of the assembled journalists gave a low whistle.

‘I like that,’ he said. ‘Looks like the Batmobile.’

‘Ah!’ Awad replied, with a grin. ‘Glad you said that. That’s what we based it on.’

Pardon?

‘Yes, we liked the look of that, so we designed something similar.’

What, the Batmobile in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight?

‘Yes, that one. You see, it turns like a motorbike and it has the same wheel configuration.’

The wheel configuration is nothing new: It's called a tadpole configuration. Buckminster Fuller designed a car with the same wheel design. It's main bonus is that it has a small turning radius relative to length (unlike, say, a motorcycle).

What I would like to see is a manned one, a tadpole A.T.V. if you will.

What would be extra-super f**king cool is if were both, kinda like 'Knight Rider'; a human, on-site "driver" with an off site human controller (Which is not exactly KIT, which was an A.I.) They could even switch off gunning and driving for sh*ts and giggles.

'defective'- Chill with the robo-bigotry. Robots never hurt anyone (purposefully, with out human guidance). Except of course for the rape-bots. They're insatiable.

it's funny to think that in some far off country, some day in the future, a looter will be searching through the wreckage of a home, and find a tiny toy of the batmobile. And he'll think "huh, that looks a lot like the vehicle that med this mess"
