50 Welcome Signs From 50 States

You know how you drive long distances and it always feels good to see a state welcome sign, because it's another milestone in the journey (or maybe your destination)? Now you can see all of them! Here's a collection of welcome signs from all 50 of the United States of America (and all on 1 page).

Why do so many states list who the current governor is on their signs? Considering how often governors change, it seems like a bit of a waste of tax dollars to maintain such a feature.

Way back when, Oregon's southernmost sign read "A nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live here." The idea was to stop the massive influx of California refugees, but it didn't go over very well.

I like the ones here that take the shape of the state, particularly Idaho and Minnesota.

Minnesota's welcome signs cost a butt-ton of money to make- they're on almost every inbound highway. WI has a few signs, but at least it didn't try to put them on *every* highway.

Oh wow I hadn't scrolled down to WI before I said that...that particular sign is not at all what WI usually uses. That sign is in the middle of nowhere, seriously. I don't remember North Dakota even having a sign when I entered on I-94, but that might be because Fargo covers two states and extends inward quite a bit before there would be an empty spot to put the sign.

New Jersey's suits it well :P
